Relief Efforts by CSA in Manipur

The State of Manipur, located in the North East part of India, bordering the states of Assam, Mizoram and Nagaland in India and Myanmar on the east, has been affected by large scale violence between tribal communities through the last two weeks. The communal violence erupted in various districts of Manipur including Churachandpur, Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, Tengnoupal and Kangpokpi, displacing thousands of people, including women and children, from their homes. Relief camps were opened in all the affected districts of Churachandpur, Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, Tengnoupal, Chandel and Kangpokpi where those displaced are being looked after safely by the security personnel today.

With these realities, the Christian Service Agency, Nagpur, called for support to engage in relief work towards the displaced people in Manipur. With the support that came in through a few donors, the CSA was able to reach out to the displaced communities in Imphal (East) and Kangpokpi districts in May 2023, through various local agencies and with the help of security forces working on the ground to provide relief to the affected.
